Brrrrr!

Those unrecognizeable white smears in this photo are dots of ICE on my scooter seat when I left work tonight! I’ve never had to take frost off my scooter before and I certainly didn’t expect to have to do this in California. Weather.com says it’s 33 degrees. Jeesh! At least I can feel my fingers [...]

photos recovered!

I’m relieved that I … ok, file scavenger (great file recovery tool, BTW) was able to recover the last month of pictures we’ve been taking which includes quarter pipe ramp construction and christmas tree farm fun. They were mysteriously missing from the compact flash card. We’ll get them posted soon! Major respect to file scavenger [...]

great coffee for great animators

Thursday afternoon, I made about 40 espresso-based drinks for the animators at PDI/DreamWorks! Someone at DreamWorks wanted to do something special for the animators and the idea of a coffee hour and my name came up. I agreed to do it because it sounded like a nice opportunity to serve the animators as a barista [...]

Iron Rangers are champs again!

After winning last season, the league allows the winning team to be excluded from the next season’s draft to defend it’s title. And last night after a good game against Quikstix, we were able to two-peat. Woo hoo! Unfortunately, we can only do that once, so we’ll all be part of the draft and it’s [...]

No, I’m not trying to commit suicide! Although I suppose some people may argue playing hockey is I got this cut playing my hockey game last night (Rebellion lost 6-5 ). During a line change, when I jumped out on the ice, somehow a teammates’ skate blade found the gap between my glove and my [...]

I’m excited that a fellow coffee junkie mentioned he had caught some of the documentary Black Coffee which is playing in 3 parts on PBS. I’ve got MythTV set to record it and will report back when I get a chance to watch it. Looks to be a Canadian production which pleases me somehow.

While queuing up today’s Tour de France stage (the team time trial! one of my faves!), I got pulled into a documentary called Life. Support. Music. and ended up watching the last half of it. An inspiring story of a musician who suffers a brain injury and his family’s resolution that he would make a [...]

Since upgrading to Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid), my audio would occasionally go dead and I’d see "device is busy" type errors. From searches, it seems PulseAudio is the problem and disabling it resolves it. I followed the instructions here and things seem to be back to normal again.
